Quality Control Manager
Plan, coordinate and direct the overall quality control and assurance responsibility. Develop and implement strategies for consistency, measurement, problem, prevention and quality improvement. Lead the quality process to management commitment and acceptance. Develop a total quality leadership both internally as well as externally through customer recognition. Provide leadership and supervision to Quality Control Supervisors and other quality control personnel and ensure the activities of the Quality Control department support the goals of the corporation.
NATURE AND SCOPE
Job Classification: Salaried, full-time, exempt
Reports To: CEO/President
Supervises: Quality Control Supervisors. May provide indirect supervision to Quality Control
Technicians, Materials Specialist, Rerollers, and Machine Operators.
Supervise and direct departmental activities to ensure safety of personnel and practices, quality of work and profitability. Provide leadership to department personnel.
Perform first-level reporting responsibilities to departmental personnel. Including but not limited to scheduling project assignments and time-off, completing and submitting personnel change forms and warning notices, and conducting training and performance evaluations. Apply policies fairly to workforce.
Develop and analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine present standards and establish proposed quality and reliability expectancy of finished product.
Monitor production to assure quality level of finished product as well as incoming raw materials. Notify management of quality situations as needed.
Formulate and maintain quality control objectives and coordinate objectives with production procedures in cooperation with plant managers; minimize costs and maximize product reliability.
Develop systems and methods for identifying progress, create method of determining seconds levels and assist in introducing systems to correct or minimize seconds.
Actively pursue by means of process control programs and corrective action, the reduction of defective work. Establish grading flagging system for identification of product quality.
Oversee waste management program. Establish and improve system to track and minimize quantity and cost of waste in all production facilities and offices.
Communicate with sales and customers concerning problem solving and establishment of uniform systems.
Investigate and respond to customer complaints regarding quality. Authorize return of goods.
Maintain Customer Complaint Report and issue on a monthly basis.
Represent the Company at quality related seminars and functions, as well as during customer visits, with the purpose of gathering, sharing and addressing quality issues/information or otherwise. Communicate findings with the organization.
Prepare and submit forms, reports and schedules related to personnel and departmental activities as required.
Prepare and manage departmental budget: promote cost reduction.
Adhere to and enforce the use of safe work practices following safety rules and regulations.

Communicates extensively with others at all levels of organization and maintains strong relationships with individuals outside the organization. Frequently uses high-level communication skills including persuasion and motivation.
Decision-making occurs on a continuous basis. Few guidelines are available. Incumbent often utilizes technical expertise, business acumen, available information and problem-solving techniques to make effective judgements. Reviewed by CEO/President as needed.
Well-lighted, heated/air-conditioned office space. Lab environment/factory environment sometimes. Exposure to chemicals/dyes and fibers.
Training/Education: Bachelors' Degree in in Textiles
Experience: 10 years. Experience in managing a quality control/development department.
Certifications/Licenses: Quality Control Engineer. Preferred, but not necessary.
Other requirements: Knowledge of ASTM procedures, and other established standards or test methods. Knowledge of textile testing and management, preferably at the corporate level. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Ability to organize and communicate technical and non- technical information.
